GET ON THE LIST

THANKS!

I was really excited to get the new ep from this kick ass all-girl band from Minnesota, Rebel Queens. crank this up!

There’s just something about this band that makes me feel good!

Loudly channeling a very Joan Jett & The Blackhearts vibe, Rebel Queens serves up a vintage sound with a modern twist!

My song pick this week is by Rebel Queens. They do  sound like some rebels and they certainly sound like Queens!

In the midst of an era that is saying "Rock is dead" comes a band of women that will make you remember the best of rock n roll! Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rebel Queens is a 70s-80s inspired rock band that combines the snarl of Joan Jett with the soul of Led Zeppelin in the same way they seamlessly blend classic rock tracks and original music. Rebel Queens was formed by Tiffany Beamer (Lead Vocals) in 2011 with strong influence from the 70's all-female band, The Runaways. Their professional musicianship and ballsy stage presence pours in to each song with gritty vocals, wailing guitar solos, tight harmonies, and a rhythm section that will keep you shakin' all night long.

The idea was always to incorporate original music, but they needed the right lineup. Finally, in 2016, the band launched their first single, "Waiting Up for You" followed by the EP It's Reigning Rock N Roll. Each song earned airplay on several independent radio stations. Their next release, Wild Ride, showcased the badass power anthem, “Hey Yeah." The classic car and motorcycle themed music video was featured in City Pages best local videos and helped solidify their status in the Twin Cities music scene. In 2021, Rebel Queens kicked off their 10th anniversary year with the On The Road  inspired single, "Ride On Thru." In true rebel form, the song blasts through comments and unsolicited advice often given to those that live outside of social norms. The song was picked up by a wide range of radio and given regular rotation, notably the Twin Cities station 89.3 The Current, who gave it 40+ spins in just a few months. The summer of 2021 brought the band’s third EP written and recorded in the midst of the pandemic, Remember Rock N Roll. "The title was a theme that kept presenting itself in 2020," Tiffany explains, "It was hard to say if Rock N Roll and local music venues could survive another major setback. We really hoped people would remember why they love live music!" Despite losing a lead guitarist prior to recording, The Queens stepped it up and released their most musically crafted EP. Each song contains a clear message that holds true to the values of making the most of the time you're given while not taking yourself too seriously. Rebel Queens has made it their mission to help carry the rock 'n' roll torch and inspire the next generation of Rock Goddesses.
